13th-14th Feb

Hi everyone,

the weather as always has been very changeable one minute cold and raining then brightening up and then again dull, typical rubbish British weather. I think i’m coming down with a case of seasonal disorder!. At home things are looking up, getting up to 9 Brambling in the garden at the moment!

Anyway here are a couple of updates for you perusal.

14th February Wombwell Ings

Present were 1 Shelduck, 185 Wigeon, 61 Teal, 13 Gadwall, 6 Mallard, 4 Shoveler, 1 Tufted Duck, 1 Little Egret, 3 Grey Heron, 13 Coot, 10 Moorhen, 240 BH Gull, 2 Common Gull, 1 Kestrel, 167 Golden Plover, 6 Skylark, 1 Song Thrush, 7 Redwing and 3 Reed Bunting.
Broomhill Flash

Noted were 2 Mute Swan, 150+ Canada Geese, 1 Greylag, 1 Shelduck, 85 Shoveler, 82 Wigeon, 55 Teal, 35 Gadwall, 16 Pochard, 14 Tufted Duck, 1m Goldeneye, 1f Goosander, 7 Cormorant, 1 Buzzard, 1 Peregrine, 47 Coot, 12 Moorhen and 131 BH Gull.
Bolton Ings

On the open water  were 4 Mute Swan, 37 Tufted Duck, 25 Mallard, 10 Teal, 9 Gadwall, 7 Goldeneye, 6 Pochard, 5 Goosander, 1 Shoveler, 2 Cormorant, 209 Coot, 8 BH Gull and 4 Common Gull. Also present were 2 Canada Geese, 3 Grey Heron, 1 Kestrel, 2 Song Thrush, 1 Grey Wagtail, 2 Willow Tit and 1 Goldcrest.

 

13th February Wombwell Ings

Present were 2 Mute Swan, 45 Canada Geese, 2 Shelduck, 80+ Wigeon, 16 Gadwall, 14 Teal, 10 Mallard, 7 Tufted Duck, 2 Shoveler, 2 Goosander, 1 Pochard, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Sparrowhawk, 11 Coot, 5 Moorhen, c200 Golden Plover, 6 Lapwing, 75 BH Gull, 3 Common Gull, 1 Song Thrush, 1 Stonechat, 3 Skylark, 25 Linnet, 6 Yellowhammer and 10+ Reed Bunting.

Broomhill Flash

Noted were 3 Mute Swan, 63 Canada Geese, 1 Greylag, 51 Shoveler, 26 Wigeon, 24 Teal, 21 Gadwall, 13 Pochard,  8 Tufted Duck, 4 Mallard, 2 Cormorant, 1 Buzzard, 26 Coot, 4 Moorhen and 68 BH Gull.
Bolton Ings

On the open water were 2 Mute Swan, 9 Tufted Duck, 8 Gadwall, 4 Goldeneye, 4 Mallard, 1 Teal, 1 Goosander, 2 Cormorant, 2 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 197 Coot, 8 BH Gull and 4 Common Gull. Also present were 21 Canada Geese and 2 Willow Tit.
