Broomhill Birder

Hi All,

a few Waders back on Broomhill Flash this morning with 1 Little Ringed Plover and 1 Ringed Plover making an appearance, first thing this morning ‘chas’ also had a Dunlin but wasn’t seen for the rest of the day.

Apart from that 3 Little Grebe, 2 Gadwall, 9 Tufted Duck + a 7 and a 3 brood. and 5 Mallard.

4 Kestrel were on top of the right hand nest box and a good group of Herunididae were present number circa 40 Swift, 20 – 30 Swallow, 20+ House Martin  and the odd Sand Martin thrown in to finish off.


On the Bridge there were 


1 Buzzard, 1 Kingfisher, 3 Mute Swan seen.


Warbler Way and Bolton Ings


4 Whitethroat, 2 Willow Warbler, 9 Wren, 10 Blackcap, 1 Sedge Warbler, 1 Reed Warbler, 1 Reed Bunting, 5 Black Bird, 1 Chaffinch, 7 Chiffchaff, 1 Sparrowhawk, 3 Cormorant, 6 Longtailed Tit family Party,

1 Song Thrush.


13 Gadwall, 4 Lesser Blackbacked Gull, 2 Grey Heron, 9 Little Grebe, 1 Oyster Catcher, 1 Common Sandpiper,  2 Common Tern + 1 Juvenile, 4 Pochard.


Also visible from Warbler Way onto Oldmoor were 1 Little Egret and 2 Common Tern and 1 Arctic Tern.

And as usual we timed it well for a good soaking on the way off (as usual). Also known as doing a “Whitehouse”!!
