Hi again,

another sunny day and the temperature got up to 12.5 dg c by the time I got back to my car this afternoon. Here’s todays sightings for Broomhill Flash and Bolton Ings for 5th March.

 

Broomhill Flash.

 

Lapwing c50,

Redshank 1,

Snipe 1.

 

Little Grebe 3,

Cormorant 1,

Mute Swan 1,

Wigeon 34,

Teal 21+,

Tufted Duck 14,

Mallard 6,

Pochard 5,

Gadwall 2,

Goldeneye 2,

Black-headed Gull c150.

 

 Red Legged Partridge 6.

Bolton Ings

 

For a change, walked on the ings from Broomhill village. Track still claggy from bridge on Old Pontefract Road down to Warbler Way.  The only singing birds were :-

 

Chaffinch 5,

Wren 3,

Robin 3,

Dunnock 2,

Song Thrush 1.

 

On the open water were :-

Little Grebe 7,

Great Crested Grebe 3,

Mute Swan 8,

Canada Geese 13,

Greylag 2,

Tufted Duck 23,

Mallard 13,

Pochard 7,

Shoveler 4,

Wigeon 2,

Goosander 2,

Goldeneye 2,

Teal 2,

Black-headed Gull c280,

Common Gull 17,

Lapwing c30,

Oystercatcher 2.

 

Also present were 1 Kestrel, 1 Green Woodpecker and 1 Grey Wagtail.
