Broomhill Birder

Hi everyone,

a lot of ground work is under way at Broomhill Flash Nature Reserve and up to now the Reserve is looking very good and we expect to have lots of waders coming through which will be clearly visible from the hide now all the rush has been removed. Anyway digressing here are todays sightings via Alan Whitehouse for 27th August.

 

Wombwell Ings mid AM

Present were 2 Cormorant, 2 Little Egret, 4 Grey Heron, 257 Canada Geese, 12 Greylag, 19 Mallard, 15 Teal, 1 Garganey, 73 Lapwing, 3 Dunlin, 2 Greenshank, 1 Kestrel, 7 BH Gull, 1 LBB Gull, 5 Pied Wagtail, 2 Yellow Wagtail and 2 Linnet.

Broomhill Flash late AM

Noted were 15 Little Grebe, 8 Cormorant, 3 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, 1a+2y Mute Swan, 12 Mallard, 10 Tufted Duck, 7 Teal, 2 Shoveler, 39 Lapwing, 2 Greenshank(+2 thro 10.50am), 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Common Sandpiper, 2 LBB Gull and 9 Yellow Wagtail.

Bolton Ings early PM

Present were 10 Little Grebe, 10a+3y Great Crested Grebe, 12 Cormorant, 3 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, 4a+11y Mute Swan, 77 Gadwall, 22 Tufted Duck, 16 Shoveler, 15 Mallard, 2 Pochard, 76 Lapwing, 1 Curlew (thro east at 12.20pm), 8 BH Gull, 1 Kestrel,1 Swift, 1 Jay and 1 Green Woodpecker.
