a few updates for the local patch starting 28th February.
Broomhill Flash mid am
8 Pochard, 6 Tufted, 2 LBB Gull, 2 Pair of Goldeneye displaying, 1 Little Grebe, 2 RL Partridge, 57 Wigeon, and 2 Buzzard & a Kestrel over Cat hill.
Wombwell Ings late am
6 Shoveler, 8 Gadwall, 11 Shelduck, 260 Wigeon, 9 Tufted Duck, 2 Mute Swan, 200 + Canada’s, 2 Greylag Goose.
Broomhill Flash 1st March.
Pochard 11, Little Grebe 4, Oystercatcher 3, Goldeneye ♂♀.
Wombwell Ings mid AM 2nd March
Present were 2 Mute Swan, 75 Canada Geese, 1 Greylag, 2 Shelduck, 85 Wigeon, 9 Mallard, 8 Tufted Duck, 7 Teal, 5 Gadwall, 4 Shoveler, 3 Grey Heron, 9 Coot, 4 Moorhen, 3 Lapwing, 83 BH Gull, 6 Common Gull, 4 LBB Gull, c15 Meadow Pipit and 1 singing Skylark( a redoubtable soul considering the snowstorms).

Noted were 2 Mute Swan, 26 Canada Geese, 50+ Wigeon, 11 Pochard, 6 Tufted Duck, 4 Shoveler, 4 Teal, 1m+2f Goldeneye, 3 Gadwall, 2 Mallard, 3 Cormorant, 4 Little Grebe, 28 Coot, 6 Moorhen, 253 BH Gull, 2 Common Gull, 6 Lapwing and 1 Kestrel.
Bolton Ings late AM/early PM
On the choppy open water were 2 Mute Swan, 15 Shoveler, 13 Pochard, 11 Tufted Duck, 2m+1juv+2f Goldeneye, 3 Mallard, 3 Teal, 2 Gadwall, 1m Goosander, 2 Grey Heron, 4 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Little Grebe, 53 Coot, 49 BH Gull, 2 Herring Gull and 1 Common Gull. The pair of Stonechat were favouring the fence line to the front and right of the Cormorant Hide(AKA Nigel’s sofa).
