here are the sightings of the day from a better than expected day. Sightings from Alan Whitehouse.

 

24th March Wombwell Ings

Highlight was the two Sand Martins over the side pool at 10.25am(the first of the year for me). Also present were 2 Mute Swan, 96 Canada Geese, 13 Greylag, 2 Shelduck, 126 Wigeon, 16 Mallard, 14 Shoveler, 8 Tufted Duck, 7 Teal, 4 Gadwall, 1 Cormorant, 1 Little Egret, 5 Coot, 4 Moorhen, 5 Lapwing, 3 Redshank, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Bar Tailed Godwit, 1 Snipe, 1 Golden Plover, 4+ Skylark, 3 Song Thrush and 6 Pied Wagtail.

Bolton Ings

On the open water were 4 Mute Swan, 18 Greylag, 2 Canada Geese, 19 Tufted Duck, 6 Gadwall, 5 Mallard, 5 Pochard, 2 Teal, 1m+1f Goldeneye, 4 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Little Grebe, 71 Coot, 2 Moorhen, 243 BH Gull and 2 Common Gull. Also present were 1 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Wigeon, 3 Buzzard, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Jay and 1 Grey Wagtail. Extras reported by S. Roebuck were 3 Chiffchaff on Warbler Way and Willow Tit and Kingfisher in front of the hide.
