here are the latest sightings for Broomhill Flash and the Dearne Area.

 

Wednesday 4th January.

Wombwell Ings

Present were 2 Mute Swan, 119 Canada Geese, 2 Shelduck, 84 Wigeon, 9 Teal, 7 Mallard, 7 Gadwall, 3 Goosander, 2 Tufted Duck, 1 Pochard, 1 Grey Heron, 7 Moorhen, 1 Coot, 155 Golden Plover, 9 Lapwing, 1 Green Woodpecker and c20 Redwing.
Broomhill Flash

Noted were 2 Mute Swan, 133 Canada Geese, 3 Greylag, 67 Wigeon, 22 Shoveler, 19 Gadwall, 11 Pochard, 9 Tufted Duck, 1f Goldeneye, 1 Cormorant, 1 Little Egret, 6 Coot, 4 Moorhen, 1 Buzzard, 1 Peregrine, 71 BH Gull and 3 Common Gull.
Bolton Ings

On the open water were 2 Mute Swan, 55 Shoveler, 10m+9f Goosander, 15 Tufted Duck, 10 Gadwall, 6 Pochard, 5 Mallard, 4 Teal, 1m+1f Goldeneye, 1 Wigeon, 2 Cormorant, 3 Grey Heron, 146 Coot, 25 BH Gull, 7 Common Gull and 1 Herring Gull. Also present were 1 Buzzard, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Jay, 2 Willow Tit, 1 Bullfinch and 1 Reed Bunting.

 

Thursday 5th January.

Wombwell Ings

Present were 2 Shelduck, 165 Wigeon, 16 Teal, 11 Mallard, 3 Shoveler, 1 Goosander, 3 Grey Heron, 9 Moorhen, 1 Coot, 215 Golden Plover, 94 Lapwing, 112 BH Gull, 3 Common Gull,c20 Redwing and a flock of 8 Long Tailed Tit.

On Knoll Beck were a Little Egret and a Kingfisher. In the alders were 4 Redpoll.
Bolton Ings

On the 20% ice-free part of the pools were 9 Mute Swan, 125 Greylag, 59 Shoveler, 31 Tufted Duck, 30 Mallard, 26 Gadwall, 22 Pochard, 10 Goosander, 4 Teal, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Little Grebe, 213 Coot, 29 BH Gull and 8 Common Gull. Also present were 2 Cormorant, 4 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, 1 Kestrel, 1 Kingfisher and 1 Willow Tit.

(per J.Seeviour) Noted were 2 Mute Swan, 41 Gadwall, 5 Mallard, 26 Wigeon, 24 Shoveler, 12 Tufted Duck, 11 Teal, 8 Pochard, ♂♀ Goldeneye, 1 Buzzard, 1 Grey Heron and 6 Common Gull.

 

Friday 6th January.

Broomhill Flash.

Mute Swan 2, Gadwall 37, Shoveler 15, Pochard 2♂, Buzzard 1, Common Gull 2, Shelduck 1, Goosander 1♂, Pink-footed Geese 1200+ then another 500+ heading west.

 

Saturday 7th January.

Pink-footed Goose 300+, Goldeneye 2♀1♂, Buzzard 1, Marsh Harrier 1♀, Sparrowhawk 1, Peregrine Falcon 2, Golden Plover 200, Med Gull 1 (adult).
